A house full of great ideas

The home of Dorthe Kvists is full of DIY pieces of furniture. The chairs are flea market finds to 25 crowns that have been painted and reupholstered. Several pieces come from Dorothe's favorite store in London named Habitat. The span of what Dorothe loves ranges from a 1960s sideboard through a Bruno Mathsson chair, ending in Anna Sørensen graphic collages.

My Matchbox Display

My matchbooks from Waiting on Martha (that I posted about here) came awhile ago and I love them! The only problem was I didn't really know where or how to display them, and ended up hiding them in a drawer, which is a huge shame given how adorable they are! Then the other day I was thrifting at Value Village and a pretty pink depression glass bowl caught my eye from a distance. When I got close, I realized it was actually an ashtray and I thought 'what a clever, witty little holder for my matches this would be!'. At $3, this baby came home with me and is making me happy every day!

An art lover's creative space

This is a wonderful home of Marie Ørberg, a designer who comes from an artistic family. The flat is occupied not only by Marie and her husband and daughter but also two of her friends, both artists. Together, they live in this commune space, where they create and display their passion with art, recycling materials decorating the house with travel finds.

Evolution of a Drawing: Modern Industrial Reception Area

It's been a little while since I shared my drawings with you guys, so I thought today I would show you the process of drawing this:
The first step is always the pencil drawing, in which you set your vanishing point, horizon line, and objects. Then I trace over this with a fine tip black architectural pen:
After this is complete, I go in with varying shades of Prismacolor French Grey markers and add depth with shadows. I always love how this looks at the end and get nervous to add any colour!
Finally, I go in and add colour to get to the final result.
Next week I will be sharing the entire project! Stay Tuned!

Give Chintz a Chance

Chintz is back and better than ever. No, we aren't talking grandma's dated floral couch here people (although I just know there is something fabulous about even that), but a modern, fresh take on this traditional fabric. The term Chintz means any printed calico from India, usually cotton and glazed, but today we use it more casually to describe any floral fabric.
I've rounded up some of my favourite Chintz fabrics and some inspiration below!:
Fabric via Schumacher, Inspiration photo via Lonny Mag, August 2012.
Fabric via Designer's Guild, Inspiration Image via A Storied Style.

Now tell me, do you like chintz? Would you do a full floral sofa, or play it safer with a throw pillow?
I think it is a truly timeless look, and I love that it is back in style!

Legendary Panton designs in a colorful funky interior

Mikkel Borg Bjergsø is a brewer, whose passion, apart from beer, are Verner Panton's design. His home is filled with unique design finds in wild colors. He shares this 128 m2 apartment in Vesterbro in Copenhagen with his wife Pernille and their child. The joy of color and a passion for Panton's design is almost palpable.

Model for a Day with 5ive15ifteen

Recently, I was lucky enough to model some bridal fascinators by Blair Nadeau Millinery. The shoot was done by the talented team at 5ive15ifteen Photo Company. I loved wearing the gorgeous Jenny Packham and Reem Acra gowns from White Toronto. I truly felt like a princess. Here are some of my favourite shots from the day:
That first look makes me wish I lived during the Gatsby years. So perfect.
And don't even get me started on that flowy goddess gown.
Thanks so much to my friend Mike and the entire 5ive15ifteen team for including me in this project! I cannot recommend them enough for all of your photography needs!

Light and peaceful home in Sweden

This lovely, bright apartment is really well put together. Even if the use of color is quite simple, the combination of design pieces of furniture makes it really chic. Eames chairs in the dining room and in the kitchen are always a lovely addition to any interior. The peaceful combnation of colors and decor is nicely balanced with greenery.

Muddy Robin's Egg

Looking around my apartment, it's easy to see that I love my white walls, especially when paired with pops of black, gold and pink, but lately there is another wall colour that is stealing my heart. I think this is what I will use in my next apartment, which I plan on being less girly and more sophisticated.
That colour is a muddy, moody, robin's egg blue (with some green in it). It's something like these, only maybe slightly more toned down:

Are you with me? I am picturing it with pear greens, chartreuses and mustard yellows. I think it would look really good with the bits of blue in my rug:
I also think the colour will pair nicely with the goldy tones of my natural bamboo chairs (and the emerald green Kelly Wearstler pillow you see on the chair)
These are some of my major pieces I cannot see myself ever parting with.

Do you like muddy paint colours? Or do you prefer clean?
